This article describes the situation when the source file contains extra data in the ‚date‘ field. During the import process ACT! imports to the field of ‚date‘ type and thus may convert data or import improperly. In this situation it is recommended to utilize Virtual Fields option to cut extra data and leave only date in the field for import. An example below is made for cutting the first 10 characters. An expression that should be specified when creating a Custom Expression field in the Virtual Mapping tab has the following look: SubString(SourceField(„Registration Date“), 0, 10) and is visualized o the image below:
Such expression should be adjusted according to your source file.
After creating a virtual field, you’d need to map this field on the Easy Mappings tab as shown on the image above. That’s it!.
