You are attempting to synchronize Sage ACT! with Outlook and receive the error message:

„Error retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {046C184F-2188-4C99-A95A-9C0DCDC19050} or {DBFD020B-D830-4FBE-A927-566B1F57A17A} failed due to the following error: 80040154“.

Note: This error can also occur when attempting synchronization with Google®. The following information still applies.

This error can result from two improperly registered library files. This issue can be resolved by running the ACT!_Outlook_Sync.bat attached to this article.

Follow the steps below:
  1. Close Sage ACT! and Outlook.
  2. Click on the ACT!_Outlook_Sync.bat file from the File Attachments section near the bottom of this article.
  3. Choose the option to save the file (not run)…save to your Desktop.
  4. When the file has finished downloading, go to your Desktop, locate the icon for the file, and double-click on it to run.
  5. When the Command Prompt screen appears, press Enter on your keyboard to continue.
  6. After a few seconds, you will receive a confirmation that the file has been successfully registered. Click OK.
  7. You will then receive confirmation that the second file has been successfully registered. Click OK to finish.
  8. Reopen Sage ACT! and Outlook and synchronize them to test.
